FAQ

Do I keep ownership of my music?

Yes. Your work stays yours, to the extent you own or control it.

Vanguard does not become your label, publisher, distributor, manager, producer, agent, or owner.

If your work includes AI-generated, AI-assisted, licensed, collaborator-created, or third-party materials, your rights may depend on applicable law, AI tool terms, platform terms, licenses, permissions, and third-party rights.

Can Vanguard post my submission?

Yes, within the Event context.

Vanguard may display submissions, excerpts, rankings, results, winner pages, showcases, Judge comments, optional visual materials, and Event records as part of running and documenting the Event.

Broader promotional use is handled by the Vanguard Content Promotion & Media License.

Can Vanguard sell my track?

No. Vanguard cannot sell your track as a standalone product under the Event Terms alone.

Any standalone commercial release would require a separate written agreement with the relevant rights holder or rights holders.

Are AI vocals allowed?

Yes, if they are allowed by the Event Materials and you have the rights, permissions, licenses, and tool-term clearance required.

AI vocals, AI rap delivery, AI singing, AI hooks, backing vocals, ad-libs, and synthetic vocal elements may be used in this Event.

However, unauthorized voice cloning, misleading artist impersonation, or unlawful use of a real person’s voice, likeness, name, image, persona, brand, or identity is not allowed.

Can I use Suno, Udio, or other AI music tools?

Yes, if the applicable tool terms allow your use and you have the rights needed to submit the work to this Event and grant the required Event and promotional permissions.

You are responsible for checking tool terms, licenses, subscription rules, commercial/public-use restrictions, and any other conditions that apply to your generated content.

Can I use a beat, sample, or loop?

Only if you have the rights, license, permission, and clearance needed to use it in this Event.

You are responsible for beats, samples, loops, collaborators, credits, vocals, Synthetic Voice, voice models, visuals, linked materials, and all third-party materials.

Can I submit a video or reel?

Yes, where the submission flow allows it.

Optional visual materials may include cover art, short-form video, reel, vertical clip, visualizer, lyric clip, teaser, or other visual presentation materials.

Optional visual materials may be considered under the published judging rules.

Can minors participate?

Yes, from age 14.

Participants aged 14–17 need parent or legal guardian authorization and supervision.

Is the prize guaranteed?

The first-place eligible winner may receive a cash prize if the applicable eligible submission threshold and prize conditions are met.

The maximum cash prize for this Event is CAD $500.

Do I get feedback?

Feedback is not guaranteed unless the Event page or Round Materials say otherwise.

How is this different from a human MC battle?

A human MC battle focuses heavily on live or recorded human vocal performance, delivery, presence, and execution.

This Event is an AI-assisted producer / creator battle. Judges are looking at how you command the whole result: concept, writing, production, vocal direction, AI creative control, hip-hop identity, and overall song impact.
